                    School sustainability conference 2026

                    Following on from the success of the 2025 event, we are pleased to host the sustainability conference one again in 2026 in collaboration with the Devon Climate Emergency and Devon Waste teams.

                    While we supported you in how to create your climate actions plans in 2025, we now look to support you in implementing the actions within your plans by highlight existing good practice and enhancing sustainable habits for both staff and students in schools.

                    The Department for Education's strategy β€˜Sustainability and Climate Change: A Strategy for the Education and Children’s Services Systems’ stated that all schools should have:   

                    • A Sustainability Lead – a individual or team of people who will implement actions to improve the sustainability of the school
                    • A Climate Action Plan – outlining how the schools plan to work towards Net Zero

                    It’s not too late to get started on your Climate Action Plan; if you are still looking for help developing and implementing your plan, then visit Devon County Council’s Sustainable Schools webpages for links to a wide range of excellent free resources and opportunities.
