Dear Parent/Guardian,
I hope the new term has started well for your young person.
I am writing to provide you with important information regarding exam access arrangements for this academic year 2025/26 and a new requirement specifically for learners who have indicated they previously had extra time in examinations.
Recent changes to JCQ regulations mean that your young person is no longer automatically eligible to the extra time in exams they may have had at school. These new regulations require us to provide current evidence to support the need for extra time for any learner who started on a Level 3 course in September.
To comply with these requirements, we will be using the planned timed written assessments leading up to the half-term break to show how extra time is used. These assessments are essential to gather the necessary evidence for JCQ and to ensure that the appropriate exam arrangements can be put in place for your young person.
We would greatly appreciate your support in encouraging your young person to take full advantage of this opportunity and to participate fully in these assessments. Should your young person not make use of the extra time offered during these timed assessments, we will be unable to provide JCQ with the evidence they require for this exam access arrangement to be put in place and your young person will no longer be entitled to extra time.
Your assistance and support will help us to ensure that all students currently in receipt of extra time will continue to receive this exam access arrangements for any formal exams linked to their level 3 programme.
Should you have any queries please contact the Exam Access Arrangements team using the following email address: examaccess@exe-coll.ac.uk
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Yours Sincerely, Lisa Smith
