Assessment of Writing

Designed to support teachers in making accurate, evidence-based assessments of writing across KS1 and KS2 where no national criteria or exemplification exists, in order to support teachers in establishing appropriate expectations in writing for every year group.

The publication contains collections of writing at EXS and GDS for every year group with detailed commentary and assessments grids, providing exemplification in a similar style to the STA exemplification for Y2 and Y6.

The materials can be used to support in-school standardisation and moderation as well as to support judgements for individual pupils.

                      Child neglect

                      Learning briefing: Neglect September 2024

Between June 2024 and August 2024, three serious incidents of parental neglect causing harm to children were notified. Rapid Reviews were undertaken.

These cases underscore the challenges in addressing child neglect and the importance of multi-agency collaboration and persistent intervention to protect children’s well-being.

Please use this link to reflect on the learning within these reviews and how these may apply to your school, your colleagues practice and any ongoing training or CPD.
