Marvellous Makers Summer Reading Challenge

Starts on Saturday 6 July!


The Summer Reading Challenge for children aged 4 to 11, will run from Saturday 6 July to Saturday 7 September 2024 - it's free to join.

Sign up at your local library and earn rewards for each book you read. Children need to finish six books to earn a medal and a certificate!


This year's Challenge, Marvellous Makers, is all about creativity. We can't wait to get creative at our free events for children!

Plant pressing with Marvellous Makers

Hapa Zome is a Japanese printmaking technique which involves smashing, pressing, and crushing fresh flowers and leaves into fabric to create images.


Find out which plants produce the best dyes and use them to create your own completely natural designs. Materials will be provided but if you have certain flowers or leaves, you’d like to try, do bring them along for some smashing fun!


Children must be registered with Marvellous Makers, Summer Reading Challenge 2024, in order to participate in this event. Registration is free of charge.

Everyone loves making things with Lego! Design and build amazing creations and take part in fun Lego challenges. 


No experience necessary, and all materials will be provided. This free event is for children, accompanied by an adult.
