Dear Rebecca,
Today we launch an important commitment. We have signed up to the new NHS Sexual Safety Charter and are launching our new sexual safety at work policy this week.
The new sexual safety policy explains what you can do if you don’t feel safe. It sets out our promise and the steps we will take to keep you safe and create a sexually safe workplace.
We all have a voice and role to play in creating a culture where everyone is respected and feels safe. Talking about sex can be difficult but its important to work together and call out unacceptable behaviour from colleagues or patients.
We promise that when you do speak up we will always follow up, be thorough, fair and supportive.
We know culture takes time to change, but by signing up to the charter we are accepting there is an issue, and we are agreeing collectively to address it for the better.
To help make it easier to access support and raise a concern, we've created a new space in the Royal Devon and Me section of HUB called Your safety. Here you can find more information about the different ways to raise a concern and access support, as well as details of the NHS Sexual Safety charter and our new policy. Searching #sexualsafety in HUB will quickly take you to the pages.
I’m grateful that Angela Hibbard has agreed to be our executive lead for sexual safety. I’ll be talking to her in one of my upcoming videos about why this is such an important issue for her.
