Funding guidelines for training, learning and development requests for 2024/25 |
Funding for any training, learning and development above £150 is accessed through Learn+. You can click here to start an application. This is the process for all colleagues, except medics, and you can put in an individual or a group request for funding. Requests for £150 or below are approved through your local budget.
The Trust’s cross-organisational panel meets monthly to review and make decisions about requests for funding above £150. We now have less development funding available to us as the four year funding pot provided by the NHSE for CPD training for our registered colleagues has now ended. The panel will therefore need to look carefully at requests for financial investment in training and may not be able to fund all requests.

Transferring management of bank colleagues to NHS Professionals: six months on |
It's six months since the management of our nursing, midwifery and administrative temporary bank transferred to NHS Professionals (NHSP).
We know there have been some challenges and difficulties through the transfer process, but six months on new processes around shift management and pay have had a chance to bed in. We couldn’t deliver our high standards of care without the commitment of our bank colleagues and are pleased to say the numbers show our bank continues to go from strength to strength.
In the last six months: - Bank fill rates have increased month on month
- We’ve had 309 new bank members – an average of 90 per month
- Over 92% of our substantive colleagues who also hold a bank assignment have completed their legal compliance checks (a requirement due to the transfer to NHSP)
- A number of our bank colleagues have received recognition (photos below) for their hard work and contribution through schemes like:
- G.E.M (Going the Extra Mile) Awards
- Bank member of the month

| It’s Experience of Care Week |
This week is Experience of Care Week (29 April-3 May). This week-long celebration is an opportunity for us to come together, reflect on our commitment to person-centred care, and recognise the incredible efforts made every day to enhance patient experience. We’ll be celebrating the invaluable contributions of patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals.
see HUB for more.
Our overarching focus during this week will be improving the way in which we communicate with our services users.
Please read our newly launched Patient Communication Policy to understand how you can make a difference to the patient’s experience of care.
This is a great time to recognise the importance of every interaction, touchpoint, and every moment shared within our healthcare community. Its’ about acknowledging the profound impact that each person has on the patient journey and the quality of care provided.

Unit4 ERP: important change from today to ‘missing goods receipt’ tasks | From today ‘Missing goods receipt’ tasks will be sent to all users who are setup as a ‘receipter’ against the cost centre used on an order.
Missing goods receipt tasks are automatically generated by the system when an order has been raised for goods/services and an invoice has been registered requesting payment but the order has not yet been receipted in ERP confirming that the goods/services have been delivered.
Until now, missing goods receipt tasks have only been sent to the person who raised the original requisition. When the procurement team has made the order or requisition they will not know that the goods/service have been received and that the invoice can be paid. This change will streamline the process and mean that invoices can be paid more efficiently.
For more information on what this change will mean for your cost centre please see HUB.

From the moment she got to RD&E to the moment she was discharged she was treated with urgency and respect.

Cancer Link: professional study days |
One in two people in the UK will have cancer at some point in their lifetime (NHS 2019) and 38% of cancer diagnoses are directly attributable to lifestyle (CRUK, 2022).
Even if not directly working with people affected by cancer (PABC), our teams are likely to look after those who have been affected by cancer and can have a profound impact on their experience of cancer care.
If you have an interest in oncology/haematology, please come along to one of the Trust-wide Acute Oncology Service study days where you’ll meet cancer specialists who will share their expertise and knowledge to improve the care and treatment we provide.
Visit HUB for dates and how to book onto the study days. |
