The life and works of William Morris and the Arts and Crafts Movement

Join silversmith and designer, Mark Lewis, for a talk celebrating the life and work of this illustrious poet, artist, and social reformer, who pioneered a movement that reacted against the soulless machine production of the Industrial Revolution. Discover how William Morris attempted to promote joyful labour, the enjoyment of fine craftsmanship, and simplicity of expression.


This talk is part of the Reminiscence Café series of events.

Get swishing with a clothing swap

Regenerate your wardrobe without buying new! Swishing is simple; just bring in your unwanted garments (all donated items must be in a good condition) and exchange them for tokens. Then, come back later to choose alternative items to take home and enjoy.

Hapa Zome is a simple but elegant Japanese printmaking technique, which involves pressing and crushing fresh flowers and leaves into fabric to create images. See a demo of the technique then create your own completely natural designs.

Magnificent music of the 19th century

Relax and enjoy a free evening concert courtesy of renowned professional musicians, The Cordial Consort.


You’ll be treated to a repertoire of live music including German and Italian songs by Schubert, Giuliani, and their contemporaries. Performed on guitar and flute using instruments of or copied from the late Classical and Romantic era with a vocal accompaniment.
