Make sure you're registered to vote in time for the local elections this May

On Thursday, May 4 residents in East Lindsey will go to the polls to have their say on who represents them at a local level.

The deadline to register to vote is midnight on Monday, April 17. Anyone can apply online and it takes just five minutes.

All the key dates you need to know for the District and Parish elections on May 4

Elections due to take place in East Lindsey (if contested) are:

  • All 55 councillors across 37 District Wards
  • All 848 seats across 137 Parishes

Nominations opened on Tuesday, March 14 2023 and if District and Parishes are contested, an election will take place on Thursday, May 4.

Between now and May 4 there are some key dates you need to be aware of to ensure you get the opportunity to have your say.

Postal voting

Wanting to vote by post in the upcoming District elections?

Applications need to be submitted by 5pm on Tuesday, April 18.

This is also the deadline for new postal proxy applications and for changes to existing postal or proxy votes.

What is new in the May 2023 elections?

The Election Act 2022 was granted Royal Assent and passed into law on April 28 2022, and this will bring significant changes to the way elections are run. One of the most significant changes is that you will need to show photographic identification (ID) when you attend a polling station to cast your vote.

South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership secures more than £15m of funding to help hundreds of homes become more energy efficient

More than £15m of funding has been secured to help hundreds of residents to reduce their energy bills and live more comfortably in their own homes.

The South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership has been awarded £15.4m of Home Upgrade Grant (HUG2) funding for a two-year programme aimed at improving the energy efficiency of domestic properties across East Lindsey, Boston and South Holland.

The funding has been awarded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, via the Midlands Net Zero Hub, and the scheme is expected to start delivery in June 2023 and run through until March 2025.

Lincolnshire Wolds Outdoor Festival set to return this May and June

Following a successful first outing in 2022, the Lincolnshire Wolds Outdoor Festival will be returning for a second time from May 20 until June 11, starting with a celebration of all things outdoors at the South Ormsby Estate.

The Festival encourages participants to get out and explore the stunning scenery of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty whilst

taking part in an array of exciting activities and learning the fascinating history that lies on many of our doorsteps.

This year the Festival will also be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wolds being designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with over 150 events and activities planned to take place across the area over the course of the three week festival.

East Lindsey District Council and partners awarded £5 million funding to support redevelopment of Skegness Pier and Embassy Theatre

East Lindsey District Council, has been awarded £5 million funding from Arts Council England's Cultural Development Fund to support partners in transforming the Embassy Theatre and regenerating Skegness Pier and the surrounding area.

the Connected Coast Board, will support the transformation of the culturally significant assets on Skegness Foreshore.

The funding will support continuing plans to establish the Embassy Theatre as a new international 'Culture House.' which will connect the Midlands Coast to other national and international venues and festivals.
