February with Richmond Libraries
With the Winter Olympics almost upon us and half term on the horizon, here's what's happening across Richmond upon Thames library service this month.
Latest Covid update
In line with government guidance, we are continuing to strongly encourage our customers to wear a face covering in libraries unless exempt. We appreciate your help in acting to protect vulnerable staff and customers.

Please be aware that in line with government guidance, library buildings must be ventilated with fresh air in a prescribed manner. This may lead to a lower temperature inside our libraries than usual, so please do wrap up warmly when you visit.

We are continuing to follow government advice on social distancing of staff and safe working practices. This might mean it takes a little longer than usual to get your library items to you. Please bear with us.

LGBT+ History Month

LGBT+ History Month is a month-long celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history.

Throughout February we'll be supporting the council's commitment to celebrating the history of LGBT rights, achievements and contributions with displays in libraries alongside Rainbow Reads collections on our Digital Library platforms.

We'll also be recommending titles across our social media.

Children's Mental Health Week

7th February marks the beginning of Children's Mental Health Week.

Throughout the week, we will be highlighting across social media some of our many resources that offer help to young people dealing with the challenges of life.

These range from parenting guides to picture books exploring potentially distressing issues such as grief or bullying. Pressures from social media, self-esteem, exams and the myriad of other influences that can have a lasting impact on development.

Our Parenting collections offer some support because as Baroness Floella Benjamin says, "Childhood lasts a lifetime"!
