New Reading Challenges

Start the new year off by taking on one (or many!) new Reading Challenges.

image.

Why not challenge yourself to read 100 books this year? If that seems a bit out of reach take it slow and commit to reading one book a season. Maybe you need to challenge yourself to read outside your usual genre, or if you've 'been meaning to read that', take a look at our Read the Classics challenge list.

There are currently six different challenges to choose from, including a curated list of graphic novels and suggestions for fiction in translation.

John Dee: Scientist or Sorcerer?

This talk is part of the Reminiscence Café series of events.

Elizabeth I’s advisor and astrologer, Mortlake resident John Dee remains an enigma. A gifted mathematician, scholar and cartographer, he was driven by a passion for discovery that led him down some very dark and bizarre paths. Dee’s long and eventful life sheds a surprising light on the reigns of the Tudors. This is a free event – no booking required.

More Winter Warmer coffee mornings

After successfully establishing a coffee morning at Twickenham Library (every Thursday from 10.00am to 12pm) late last year, we can now inform you that further coffee mornings are starting in other libraries.

Winter Warmer Coffee Mornings are open to people of all ages, just drop in at your own pace and enjoy some tea, biscuits, and good company. This is a different type of session to our Reading Groups so there is no expectation to read a book as part of the session.
