Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am delighted to write to you as we begin another academic year and welcome both new and continuing learners to our sites.
I hope that your young person is settling into life here at Exeter College and that the transition from secondary school to College, from year one to year two, or progression into a new course has gone well.
We have celebrated another year of student successes, including national sports honours, record-breaking results and awards and recognition both here at College and beyond.
The 2025/26 academic year saw the opening of new buildings to further improve our accommodation for the benefit of our learners. In the autumn our faculty of Human, Social and Political Sciences moved into the new Centre for Law and Social Sciences and in the spring we opened a new Centre for Progression in Tiverton, followed by the unveiling of Baker’s Ward; a fully simulated hospital training ward. Finally, in the summer, we opened the doors to The RISE, our brand new purpose-built hub for the faculty of Foundation Learning and Inclusion.
We are continually investing in our facilities, but we are equally invested in our talented staff and the teaching and learning experience they provide to our students. We want every student to feel supported, valued and able to make the most of their time at College. Their tutor is an important part of this, providing a familiar point of contact throughout their time with us and helping them to settle in, feel connected and access the support they need. Through weekly tutorials, we support learners to develop their confidence, skills and aspirations, explore their next steps and engage with important topics that will help prepare them for life beyond College. Alongside this, we provide a wide range of opportunities and activities to enrich the student experience.
Over the first few weeks of College, we work extremely hard to create moments for students to make friends, get to know their tutor and generally settle into College life. One of the big differences in stepping up to College life is the ownership and responsibility that young people take for their learning as we prepare them for the world of work or further study. We hope your young person thrives during their time as a student at Exeter College. Their tutor is there to support them throughout their time with us and is the first point of contact for both students and parents if you have any questions or concerns.
