Summer Reading Challenge 2026

More than 2,000 children across the borough have already signed up for this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, Read to the Beat!


With the challenge running until early September, there’s still plenty of time to sign up. Pick up a pack at any library, read six books or complete six goals, and collect stickers along the way. Complete the challenge to earn a medal and certificate.

Building bridges with Lego!

Design, build, and bring your imagination to life creating Lego bridges at this anniversary celebration of Richmond bridge. We’ll provide the Lego; all you need is enthusiasm and creativity!


Connect with new friends, learn about the 250-year history of the bridge, and showcase your skills in a fun, welcoming drop-in session for children of all ages.

Learn how to to build your own carbon dioxide monitors from scratch and use them to measure the air around us. Suitable for children aged 8+, beginners welcome and all equipment provided. Parents, carers or guardians must stay with their child throughout the session.
