Hello,
You may be aware that over the past few days there was disruption to our infrastructure including a temporary power outage on campus, a mains water pipe rupturing near Bramber Lawns, and the cyber security incident relating to Canvas.
Please be reassured that these situations have now been resolved and are no longer causing any issues for students. Power was restored and buildings safely reopened; the Canvas breach has been resolved - and you can continue to use Canvas as normal; and the water pipe near Bramber Lawns was promptly repaired, with supply returned to Essex House and Norwich House by late morning the following day. We appreciate your patience while these issues were addressed, particularly during the busy assessment period.
Given these recent disruptions, I want to reassure you that the University has protocols in place for IT outages. If you do experience any IT problems during an assessment, please contact your school/faculty office who will guide you on next steps. Please also remember to regularly save your work to your University One Drive file store, especially final submission files.
If any of these recent circumstances have affected your ability to submit an assignment on time, or impacted your preparation for an assessment, you may wish to consider submitting an Exceptional Circumstances (EC) claim. You can read more about EC claims on the Student Hub.
As we continue through the assessment period, I hope you have found the revision and preparation guidance I have been sharing over the past few weeks helpful. If you would like to revisit any of the advice or techniques, you can find them all on the Skills Hub, which is full of extra tips to support your focus and confidence during exams.
Also, remember to make the most of the free food available to students during the assessment period. You can pick up a breakfast, lunch or snack pot by showing your Sussex student ID – the perfect way to refuel for your exams!
