Kamishibai - Japanese “paper drama” - was once loved across Japan, and now it’s back! Join Sarah Rundle for tales of fox-goblins, spiderwomen, hairy things, and spirits-that-lick-dirty-bathrooms.

Yoga for everyone

This March see the library from an exciting new angle with a free taster yoga class. With a focus on deep breathing, mindfulness and slow stretches, these restorative sessions are suitable for all abilities.


Yoga mats, blocks, and straps are all provided but please wear comfortable clothing as there are no changing facilities.

Get swishing with a clothes swap

Swishing is so simple. Just bring in your unwanted clothing garments* for children or adults and exchange them for tokens, then come back later to choose alternative items to take home and enjoy.


Drop off between 11.30am and 1pm then choose items between 2 and 3pm.
*All donated items must be in good condition with no more than 10 unwanted items per person.

Hidden Heroines

Dr Stephen Goss uncovers the hidden histories of women in wartime, from couriers and saboteurs in the First World War to agents, partisans, and spies in the Second. He reveals how ordinary women carried out extraordinary acts of defiance that shaped resistance movements across Europe and beyond.


The Reminiscence Café meets monthly to celebrate history and culture and is a great way to connect with local residents.
