Hello,
As we look towards the end of the semester, it is also a good time to plan ahead and think about the new year. Making some plans and preparations now can help you to balance some time out over the holidays as well as being ready for assessments and exams next term.
The information and guidance on the University’s Exams and Assessments page on the Student Hub and the Skills Hub can help you to achieve your best results. Do take a look at some great advice in Tavian’s video about how to successfully revise, take breaks and set a plan to use your time effectively. Doing this will mean you can have a good study / life balance over the holidays, and beyond.
Wellbeing and a sense of work/life balance is really important, especially at this time of the year, where many of us come together to celebrate festivals and the holidays, which can also bring additional challenge. This week, I went to the lighting of the campus Christmas tree, and it was lovely to see so many of you there. Watch out for these and other activities that are part of our campus life and can help our sense of connection and belonging. Please read on for full details of this week’s news, events and opportunities across Sussex including:

Based in the Sussex School for Progressive Futures, Caroline shared her reflections on joining the University, her career in climate action and public life, and what environmental sustainability means for today’s students.
During the conversation, Caroline spoke about Sussex’s role in shaping progressive futures and the importance of connecting ideas with action through teaching, research and public engagement. The students captured her first visit to campus and the themes she is passionate about, including sustainability, social justice and the future of our planet.

| Support for students and staff affected by the Hong Kong fire
In response to the recent fire at a high‑rise residential complex in Hong Kong, the University of Sussex has reached out to all students and staff who may be affected, based on their declared nationality or home address, to ensure they are aware of the support available.
For students, the University is offering a wide range of support, whether you are in the United Kingdom or overseas. The Student Hub provides detailed information and guidance to help you manage the impact on your wellbeing and your studies. You may also raise a support request through MySussex or visit the Welcome Desk on campus, open Mondays to Fridays from 8.30am to 5.00pm, for confidential help or to be connected with a specialist advisor.
| Have your say in the Student Spaces Survey and win a prize
Your voice matters. The University of Sussex wants to hear how you use campus and what improvements you would like to see. The Student Spaces Survey asks about study areas, social spaces, food outlets, campus accommodation, shops and other facilities so that we can shape campus to better meet student needs.
Completing the survey only takes around 10 to 15 minutes, and as a thank you you will be entered into a prize draw. You could win a £50 “Munch Money” voucher or one of five £10 vouchers to spend in SussexUniFood campus cafés. Your feedback will help improve the spaces where you study, socialise and relax. |
