Better Environments for Tolworth
| The summer is here and works are well underway on the redevelopment of Tolworth Hospital following our 'groundbreaking' ceremony back in March!
We are thrilled to be delivering this £110m investment for Kingston and are excited to see the difference it will make to our patients, carers, and staff in the years to come. |

Our next steps The structure of new hospital building is already taking shape and the good news is that the majority of our works will now be focused in the centre of the site, which should help to reduce disruption for all.
We want to ensure we finish our programme on time and we really appreciate your continued patience as works progress.
Our partners are committed to being respectful as they go about their work under the Considerate Contractor Scheme and you can find both my team's and Sir Robert McAlpine's details at the bottom of this email, should you need to get in touch with us during the build phase.
With works ongoing, we will now be sharing these updates bi-annually, but remember you can still find all the latest on our landing page.
| | The structure for the new hospital taking shape
Creating a new Tolworth Hospital As the main build progresses through to the end of 2027 we now have time to pause and reflect on Tolworth's future and the community development that will support the site's regeneration.
Key to our vision is opening up our hospital and welcoming in the community to help break mental health stigma and integrate our hospital with our surroundings. Stigma poses a double jeopardy for people experiencing mental ill health, so by changing how our sites look and feel we can help break down barriers, support access and ensure a better experience for everyone who relies on our services in their time of need.
This means, as well as thinking about our landscaping and site layout, we will be looking at developing a range of initiatives including an art programme both to help create warm, welcoming environments, and to provide further opportunities for co-production with staff, patients and residents.
We look forward to taking these next steps together as our Better Communities programme goes from strength to strength. Thank you, as ever, for your support.
