Dear Parent/Guardian,

Please see below for information regarding revision, summer exams and progression to Year 2. Please note that you will not have access to some links in this email as they navigate to the College's internal portal.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your young person's tutor. You can find their contact details on the parent portal.

Dear AS/A Level Learner,

We hope you are looking forward to the Easter break and some well-deserved rest. A gentle reminder that this time should also be used to complete purposeful revision and preparation for your upcoming AS/A Level exams.

Revision support

As we have discussed in the online assemblies, creating a plan for your revision is crucial as well as making sure that you are completing a range of revision activities e.g. flashcards, quizzes, and practice questions. Please use the links below for more revision tips.

It is also important to look after your wellbeing. Remember to take breaks, meet up with friends, and exercise. For further support on wellbeing during the exam period please see here.

Exam dates and information

The AS/A Level external exam series starts on Monday 12th May. You can access your exam timetable now on your My eILP. This will show you:

  • Exam dates
  • Location of exam sessions (if not yet showing it will be shortly)
  • Approved access arrangements that are in place
  • JCQ notices that you must familiarise yourselves with before the exams

General FAQs

  • If you cannot see an exam you are expecting to sit, please contact your subject lecturer asap.
  • If you cannot see your access arrangements showing, please contact your tutor to check the status of them.
  • If you notice you have a clash of exams at the same date/time, please do not panic, this is quite common. You will likely sit one exam in the morning and one in the afternoon and be kept under supervision all day. You will have a break between the exams and be able to eat lunch/revise. Exact details of the arrangements will be sent out to you nearer the time of your exam.

In the unlikely event that the government determines that exams are not able to go ahead, as per Ofqual’s guidance, the College would provide alternative evidence of performance, including mock exams, to award grades.

Lessons during the exam period

We are committed to supporting you both academically and pastorally throughout your exam period. To ensure you receive the best possible guidance your normal timetable will continue to run and you should attend all lessons except when you have an exam. This structure allows your teachers to provide essential exam preparation, answer any last-minute questions, and help reinforce key topics. Additionally, maintaining a routine can support your wellbeing by offering stability and reducing stress during this important time.

For Year 2 A Level learners:

You attend all lessons as normal (except for when you have an exam) until teaching finishes on Friday 13th June, or when you have sat all exams for your subject, whichever is earlier. However, to reduce travel time during the busiest phase of A Level exams, lessons on Friday 23rd May, Wednesday 4th June, and Friday 6th June will be delivered remotely via Teams. Your teachers will provide more information on this.

For Year 1 AS Level learners:

Once you have completed your exams for a subject, you do not need to attend these lessons until Monday 9th June. For example, AS Sociology finishes on Tuesday 20th May. You do not then need to attend Sociology lessons on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd May.

Monday 2nd - Friday 6th June: Reading Week for Year 1 AS Level learners only

  • There are no lessons this week for AS Level learners.
  • Learners who study Year 1 A Levels in: Computer Science, Environmental Science, Further Maths, Philosophy and/or PE will sit an internal exam(s) in that subject during this week. You will be able to see the date and time of these internal exams on your eILP shortly.

Year 1 AS Level Learners - Return to College for Progression to Year 2

On Monday 9th June Year 1 AS Level learners, should return to College for your Progression to Year 2 Weeks. During these weeks you will be taught key content for the second year of your A Level. This will be following your normal timetable, therefore, if you normally have a lesson at 9am on a Monday, you should attend at this time. Please check your timetable on your eILP in case there have been any changes to your rooming.

Attendance in all your subjects during Progression Weeks is crucial, even if you anticipate making a change to your course. During your first tutorial session, you will be given a passport that you will need to complete throughout the Progression Weeks. The last day of College is Friday 27th June.

AS/A Level results day is on Thursday 14th August. We will be in touch with information about how you will receive your results and the advice and guidance available in the summer term.

Wishing you the very best of luck in your exams. Please remember that your tutor and teachers are here to support you.

Very best wishes,

Billie Stokes

Assistant Principal
