Contents insurance | Selwood Housing insures your home as part of your tenancy agreement, but this does not cover your personal possessions being damaged, broken or stolen, such as:
If you don't currently have any home contents insurance, it's a good idea to think about whether you need it, to provide peace of mind and essential help should the worst happen.
We have partnered with Thistle Tenant Risks who provide specialist policies for people living in social and affordable housing, on a pay as you go basis. Find out more at My Home Contents Insurance, or call My Home on 0345 450 7288.
Unlike many other contents insurance schemes there is little to no excess to pay, with only a small fee on some accidental damage claims or extended accidental claims. Other benefits include covering water damage, fire damage and replacing or installing new locks for outside doors and windows if keys are lost or stolen.
If you'd like to know more, to make an informed decision, you can find all the details on our website including a customer information pack and application form. |

Radio teleswitch service switch off |
Do you have an electricity meter that looks like the image above? Do you use electric heating within your home, live in an area without gas, or use time-of-day tariffs like Economy 7 or Economy 10? If so, you need to contact your energy supplier and ensure a smart meter is installed before the end of June.
The radio teleswitch service (RTS) is used by some older electricity meters in the UK to switch between peak and off-peak rates or control heating and hot water. RTS technology will be switched off after 30 June 2025, which may cause issues with RTS switches being stuck on or off, leading to either no heating or hot water, or higher bills.
If you have an RTS meter, your energy supplier should contact you to arrange a smart meter upgrade before the deadline to avoid disruption. Contact your supplier if you're unsure which meter you have, and keep an eye out for communications from your energy supplier to ensure you don’t miss the upgrade.
Click the button below to find out more information, including a video on identifying RTS meters, what action you need to take, and how to contact your energy supplier.

Storm damage response | We're sure everyone is aware of the recent surge in stormy weather which has led to local flooding, fallen trees, damaged roofs and broken fences.
We appreciate that customers face problems with keeping children and dogs contained when fences have come down in high winds. Fencing falls under our routine 60 day repairs service. With lots of customers all facing the same issue, we appreciate your patience and assure you that we will get to each repair as soon as we can.
Through the last three winter storms, our operatives have attended between 100-250 additional jobs per storm on top of their regular workload, whilst facing challenging weather conditions. We would like to thank them for their efforts, alongside our customer support team who have handled hundreds of additional calls. |
