Team News
There are no changes to the team and replacements that played against NEC Harlequins in the opening match of the season at Twickenham last weekend. The club's mini-injury crisis is beginning to ease. Justin Bishop (hamstring), Declan Danaher (hamstring), Michael Horak (thigh) and Rodd Penney (hamstring) are expected to be fit for the club's Zurich A League game against Saracens at Sunbury on Monday evening. The long term injuries to Adam Halsey (foot), Peter Poulos (shoulder) and Doug Wheatley (hand) are improving and they are expected to be available for selection in three weeks. Commenting on the weekend's match, Head Coach, Gary Gold said, "Our record keepers tell me that we have not won a league match at Kingsholm since 1993, well that's a statistic we would like to change! We have no illusions about how difficult securing a victory will be in front of the famous "Shed". Having said that, we managed to win there in the Cup last season so we know we can provide a credible challenge, especially if we can improve on our performance at Twickenham last Saturday." London Wasps 23 London Irish 10 Defeat in Opening Zurich A League Fixture An older and more experienced London Wasps side were too powerful for a young London Irish team in last night's opening Zurich A League fixture at Imber Court last night. Exiles' scores came from a first half try by Dominic Shabbo converted by Mark Mapletoft who also added a penalty. Half-time score was 16-10 and the final score was 23-10. There were encouraging cameo appearances from Derry Coughlan and Shane Geraghty at half back for the last 20 minutes with Geraghty being particularly impressive. The next Zurich A League fixture is at Sunbury on Monday, 13th September (kick off tbc) against Saracens.
