Customer support over Christmas closing |
Our offices will close for the Christmas period at 2pm on Tuesday 24 December and reopen on Thursday 2 January at 8.30am. If you need to raise an emergency or priority repair during this time, please call 01225 715 715 and you will be put through to our out of hours service. You can find out more about our repair categories on our repairs service webpage.
You can request a routine repair which will be scheduled once the offices reopen in January. We also have a webpage dedicated to repair tips and advice, if you find yourself in need over the festive period. You can also email us general enquiries via info@selwoodhousing.com and we will get back to you in the new year.
If you need to get in touch with us following the Christmas break, please bear in mind that the phone lines will be very busy on Thursday 2 January, so you may want to try phoning later in the week if your call is not urgent.
We wish you all a very happy Christmas and a wonderful new year! |

Trees webpage | We have created a new page on our website dedicated to trees. We often have questions from customers about caring for the trees in their gardens, and who looks after the trees in our communal areas.
We recognise the importance of trees within our communities, and we are committed to protecting them for future generations. If there are trees in your garden, it is your responsibility to look after them by regularly pruning the trees, and ensuring they do not obstruct public footpaths or overhang into your neighbour's garden.
Selwood Housing maintain the trees in our communal areas and open spaces and we work with local partners and the council to keep them healthy, safe and beneficial for the community. Customers can expect regular inspections of trees, tree management to maintain the health of trees and prevent damage to property, as well as making sure trees do not block highways, footpaths or streetlights.
Lots more information is available on our 'Trees in your garden' webpage, where you can read our full tree policy and find out more information about planting new trees in your garden. If you have any concerns about trees in your garden or a neighbour's garden, you can contact customer support on 01225 715 715 for advice. |

Scam awareness
| We have had recent reports of customers receiving scams on the phone and in person. If you ever have any doubts as to whether a phone call, text message, email or operative is genuine, don't take any risks! Any suspicious activity should be reported to the police, and you can always call our customer support team on 01225 715 715 to check about any repairs being carried out on your home or in your area.
We want to reassure our customers that:
You will be advised in writing or via text of upcoming works and booked repairs and maintenance.
You can request to see the ID of our operatives and contractors, who should show it on arrival.
Payments will never be requested by our operatives or contractors.
If you would like any further information, you can click the button below to visit our 'scam aware' webpage, which gives top tips about reducing your risk of fraud and staying safe from scammers.

Pension credit | Last month we shared information about pension credit, which is a benefit that can help with living costs if you are over state pension age and on a low income.
There is lots of information available on our pension credit webpage, including other benefits you might be entitled to, the details you will need to apply, and other helpful resources.
Pension credit is a gateway benefit and so opens up entitlement to the winter fuel allowance, which is now means tested. In order to be able to backdate your payment (by a maximum of three months), you need to apply for pension credit by the deadline of 21 December.
Click on the following links to read about eligibility for pension credit and winter fuel allowance.

Sign up for policy review | Aids and adaptations are specific modifications made to assist individuals with mobility, disabilities, or other health-related needs, and could include grab rails, stairlifts, or accessible showers.
We recognise that our customers may require adaptations to their home for them to continue living there safely.
We would like to invite you to join our focus group on Wednesday 30 January 2025 (from 10am to 11.30am) to help us review our current aids and adaptations policy.
You can find more information here and sign up by clicking the button below. We always thank you for your time with a gift, such as a shopping voucher or other small incentive.
