Club Journal - out next week | In this issue we bring the news that Ken Roberts CMD ACM has been named the new President of the Union, while Bob Russell CMD has taken over the role of Union Vice-President.
Elsewhere in the issue, we announce that Sheffield’s Owlerton Stadium will be hosting our greyhound racing event on Friday, September 13. For the special discounted price of £20, Union members can enjoy a three-course meal in the glass-fronted Panorama Restaurant, where you can watch the racing from the comfort of your seat.
Meanwhile, the latest batch of candidates to pass the Union’s Award in Club Management (ACM) is announced on page 21. This month’s ‘Club of the Month’ is Stopsley WMC in Luton. The club began life as a simple wooden hut in 1946 but is now a huge, modern club with first-class facilities and an array of activities and entertainment for members to enjoy throughout the year.
We also bring details of the latest CIU National Prize Draw, which takes place on August 31. In our ‘HQ’ section on page 18, our General Secretary, Kenneth D Green CMD ACM, urges clubs to get in touch with their local MPs following the recent General Election. There is also a feature on Golden Ale from Preferred Supplier Greene King.
