Here's what we and our supporters have been up to this April!

In honour of the late consultant hepatologist Alison Brind, who sadly passed away following a battle with pancreatic cancer, UHNM Charity is encouraging people to take part in the Trentham Park Run on May 11th to celebrate Dr. Brind's life and legacy while raising awareness and funds for UHNM Charity.

Dr. Brind, known for her unwavering commitment to patient care, touched the lives of many during her tenure at the UHNM NHS Trust. Her passing on April 7th left a profound void in the local community and among family and friends.

The parkrun, set to take place at Trentham Gardens, will be a testament to Dr. Brind's enduring impact and the indelible mark she left on colleagues, patients, and loved ones. Participants are invited to join in a spirit of remembrance as they walk, jog, or run in her memory. More>

Team UHNM Completes London Landmarks Half Marathon

A team of staff from across UHNM successfully completed the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday 7 April, raising over £3,500 so far for UHNM Charity.

A mix of clinical and non-clinical staff laced up their trainers to tackle the 13.1 mile course past some of the Capital’s most iconic landmarks in dry but windy conditions.

Lisa Thomson, Director of Communications and Charity at UHNM said: “I would like to congratulate each of our incredible runners for completing the course and encourage everyone to show their appreciation for Team UHNM by donating if they can”. Donate here.

We would like to give a massive thank you to our fundraiser Nicole and her family, who took part in the Nantwich 10k on Sunday 17 March in remembrance of their mum who sadly passed away on Mothering Sunday this year.

Nicole, alongside her husband Gary, her brother Justin and his wife Sam ran the to raise money for Ward 230 at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust who cared for Nicole and Justin’s mum, Sue.

Deputy Ward Manager Focuses on Improving Patient Experience

A Deputy Ward Manager is helping to improve the experience of the patients in his care through his love of photography.

Four of Antonio Ferraro’s photos, showcasing the landscapes of the Peak District, have been proudly displayed in Cardiothoracic Critical Care at the Royal Stoke.

After his talents were spotted by colleagues, Antonio received funding from UHNM Charity so his work could be hung in four patient side rooms.

Antonio, who’s worked at UHNM for nine years, said: “I bought my first DSLR camera when I first qualified as a nurse, but started to take photography more seriously five or six years ago. Living in Leek, I’m privileged to have the Peak District on my doorstep, and I go out and take a lot of landscape photos. Any season there’s a lot of photos to be taken.” More>
