SLS 15 book titles - conservation

Earth day on 22 April 2024 is a time to remember and reflect on the beauty of Planet Earth and what we can do to protect it. The books on these lists highlight the conservation issues we are facing, are a celebration of the wonders of nature and provide hope to our young people.

This collection aims to provide support for exploring these themes.

Subscribers can contact their adviser for help with weeding and audits or for advice and recommendations.

  • The books on this list can be purchased from the School Library Service

  • Individual titles can be purchased at a saving of 25% off RRP

  • Please contact us at schoollibraryservice@devon.gov.uk or 01392 287244

Candy will then give some feedback to each group and the schools will have an opportunity to vote for their favourite presentation. Chefs in schools - free chef training

Riverford Organic Farmers have places available on their upcoming programme starting Tuesday 30 April at Riverford Field Kitchen in Buckfastleigh and there will be further training programmes later in the year.

Chefs in Schools is a charity with the mission of transforming school food and food education. Riverford's School Chef training programme goes beyond the basics, and the training is designed to improve confidence in nutrition and food education for those working in school food. Topics cover nutrition, food waste, kitchen skills, food education sessions and fulfilling the school food standards. Schools and caterers do not need to contribute to the cost, but must enable kitchen staff to be able to attend the training sessions. The programme is suitable for in-house our outsourced catering teams.
