The CIU National Raffle offers guaranteed prizes of one 1st prize of £3,000, a 2nd prize of £1,500 and a 3rd prize of £500. AND: if one of your members wins 1st Prize, the club will also receive £300, so encourage your members to join in!

Dransfields CIU Raceday

In this month's issue, we rewind to the Dransfields CIU National Charity Raceday which saw over 800 Union members having a great day out at Wetherby Racecourse in the CIU Marquee. With the racecourse and its caterers, CGC Events, each donating £1 to the CIU Education Programme for every Union member attending, a total of £1,718 was raised.

CIU Club of the Year 2023

In December's Club Journal, we have a report on the 2023 Club Awards in Leicester which saw several CIU clubs recognised for their success, including the winners of the ‘CIU Club of the Year’ Award, shared by Wombwell WMC in Barnsley and Sandhurst Social Club in Berkshire.

King of Clubs 2023 at Club Awards

The top award of the night, the ‘King of Clubs’ Award went to Walthamstow Trades Hall in East London, a shining example of what it means to be truly inclusive. A host venue for the first ever ‘Silver Pride’, it provides support to the elderly and isolated, and opened up as a Community Living Room over the winter months with free soup, hot drinks and biscuits. More on page 15.

Club Awards 2023

Union officers President George Smith, Vice President Ken Roberts CMD ACM and General Secretary Ken D Green CMD ACM, were on stage to present well-earned Long Service Awards to a number of individuals, including Wombwell Working Mens Club’s Harold Binney, Linda Mann, Steward Ellen Lockey and Chairman Derek Vamplew.
