Hello from the Exeter College Advice Team.

We hope that you and your teams enjoyed the fabulous weather over the half term and that you have a successful end to this academic year. This is the final newsletter for this academic year, and we’d like to wish your students the best of luck in their final GCSE exams. Likewise, we would like to say thank you for your ongoing partnership and support this academic year with events in school and at Exeter College.

Applications and Interviews

We are still accepting applications for September 2023. Our final interview event takes place on 3rd July between 5-7pm. Any students applying after this date will be invited to late interviews in early September. All applying students must attend an interview to be given a conditional offer of study and will then be invited to enrol so that they can take up their offer.

College Enrolment

College enrolment is taking place between 25th August and 4th September 2023. Students will be sent a letter and email with the details of their enrolment appointment at the start of August. It is essential that students attend their enrolment appointment so that they can accept their offer of study and find out about the start of term. If any students are abroad for the duration of our enrolment period, they will need to inform our Admissions Team. Where this is the case, please ask students to contact us once they have received their invitation to enrolment so that we can make alternative arrangements.

Enhanced Financial Support

As you may already be aware, all full-time learners who live more than 3 miles from college are eligible for the Exeter College Travel Pass Scheme that provides subsidised travel passes for buses and/or trains, regardless of household income. The good news is that we have now made further investment to offer additional support towards the cost of travel for households with an income of below £50k per year, and for any learners with a household income of £30k or below, their travel to college will be free of charge. For detailed information on the varied levels of financial support available, please click on the link below.

In addition to the Travel Scheme, we offer a student Bursary Scheme to help ensure that financial constraints don’t present a barrier to accessing an outstanding education. The bursary is available to students whose household income is below £30k per year, and can help with the cost of travel, free meals, academy fees, essential books, and specialist clothing, amongst other things. Bursary applications opened on 19th June.

Extra-curricular Activities

EXtra is everything available to students above and beyond the core curriculum. Students are offered the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of clubs, visits, guest talks, employer encounters, competitions, academies and more. This academic year we have massively increased the number of clubs and societies that students can join, which range from sports and music groups to life-skills, wellbeing and volunteering opportunities. This is an exciting part of joining the college, and if your students wish to find out more about these excellent opportunities, please direct them to the webpage.
