Hello and welcome!

Exams have started, coinciding with #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and a special focus on recognising and managing anxiety. We're not sure if the timing was intended.

Anxiety can impact anyone - examinee or not - and as with any mental health challenge, even mild anxiety can reduce our ability to manage the day-to-day. It's so important to find the simple steps that can help us to cope, opening our opportunity to feel in the zone, and be able to get the most out of life. Here we share a short article on simple steps to help you cope with anxiety. Feel free to send it to your GCSE and A level students.

Good luck with the exams. You've got this!

Scomis strategy statement

As our customers and partners will be aware, the MIS market in England is changing. Several customers have asked us our view on this. We're pleased to share that Scomis has chosen to position itself as a MIS-agnostic service provider. This means that we will work with current and new partners to allow our customers to get the best out of available education technology. For more information read our strategy statement.

Upcoming tutor-led courses

Last week we invited a group of customers to attend tutor-led courses specific to their role and responsibilities. In case we missed you out we've itemised them below.

We created these groupings because we know that finding the right training course can seem daunting and hard to prioritise when you're busy - and we know you're busy.

Summer Census

The Summer Census is today, Thursday 18th May, and the return deadline is Wednesday 14th June (unless advised otherwise by your Local Authority).

Check out our Summer Census FAQ for all the latest information and how-tos for SIMS and Arbor.

If you're responsible for the Summer Census at a secondary school and missed our training but are worried about correct preparation and reporting of your census, please contact your account manager who will put you in touch with our consultants. They can take you through step by step.

Improvements to case handling processes for self-service and email users

Scomis is a continuous learning organisation, and we listen carefully to feedback and regularly analyse our data in order to make improvements for our customers. It was found that our response times to cases logged either by customer email or via our self-service portal, MyScomis, were lower than our excellent telephone support.

Following valuable feedback from customers, we identified areas where improvements can be made to the Service Desk.

Our blog post about how we've been improving our case handling processes.

Housekeeping for SIMS

This term is shorter than usual, due to the extra bank holidays. When there are fewer days to achieve all the tasks, there's one thing that will save you lost time - our SIMS Housekeeping Routines video masterclass. Don’t leave these tasks until after half-term! Remind yourself what needs to be done and watch our SIMS Housekeeping video.

Scomis 30-Minute Masterclass: Have You Done Your Sims Housekeeping?

Hey Matt!

When I access exams organiser in SIMS why does it ask me to sign in again?

I'm glad you asked! This is now expected functionality since the summer 2023 upgrade to SIMS version 7.210. This has been added as an extra layer of security to the schools' SIMS Database. Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to switch off.
