FACE MASK WEARING

We continue to be made aware of a number of concerns that have been raised in relation to staff not wearing face masks, and unless there is a medical reason, of which your line manager should be aware, this practice cannot and must not continue.  Along with regular hand washing, this single act is one of the of the most critical ways that we can ensure your health and safety whilst at work.  We cannot compromise on legal safety requirements of wearing the correct PPE, and wearing it correctly. Failure to do so puts our staff, patients, families and the public at risk.  Where individual staff are found not adhering to the protective measures we have put in place, to maintain essential health and safety for you or others, then the Trust will need to take this matter very seriously, which could potentially include disciplinary action. We want to avoid this at all costs. If you do have a condition that restricts your ability to wear a mask then please do not delay in liaising with your line manager in relation to this and if you are in a patient-facing role, your place of work may need to change. This should be reflected within your individual risk assessment as we will need to consider what additional factors will need to be put in place to protect you.

TEST, TRACK AND TRACE PRIVACY NOTICE

Contact tracing is an important way of controlling the spread of infectious diseases. It involves identifying and tracing all the people who have been in contact with a person who has been infected. Depending on the nature and duration of the contact, these contacts may require advice or treatment to prevent the disease from spreading further.

The purpose for which we, as a Trust, are processing your personal data is to assist with the NHS Track and Trace, in relation to the coronavirus public health pandemic. This will involve the gathering and, when required, the sharing of information with NHS/NHS(S), as the responsible bodies: your data will not be used for any other purpose.

Read our full privacy notice, which includes why we collect personal data, what data we will collect, our lawful basis for collecting and sharing your data, how long we will retain the data, your rights, and complaints details, on the website (under staff testing) and intranet.

Get your flu jab in time for the COVID-19 Vaccine

COVID-19 vaccines may be available from as early as the 1 December. If you are getting your flu vaccine, you need to leave 7 days before getting the COVID-19 vaccine. We are urging patient-facing staff to get their flu jab within the next two weeks. You can book into a flu clinic here, or contact your local flu fighter to get your jab done.

Once the COVID-19 vaccines become available, capacity for delivering flu vaccinations will be very limited. Getting your flu jab now means we can make sure that we have the resource to deliver the COVID vaccine when the time comes.

We currently have 49% of our patient-facing staff vaccinated, with Manchester South Services (68%) and Substance Misuse Service (65%) leading the way. We still have a way to go to achieve our aim to get 90% of patient-facing staff vaccinated by the end of December.

From next week ALL GMMH staff will be eligible to get a flu vaccine via the Trust – we will share more information with you about this as soon as possible.

Every year, flu kills over 11,000 of people and hospitalises many thousands more. Having a long-term health condition can cause serious complications. Remember, even if you're healthy and don't feel any symptoms, you can still pass the virus on to more vulnerable individuals. Protect your loved ones and service users, and book in to get your flu vaccine now.

They also want to provide a safe space to talk through anything happening in a young person's life that could be impacting on themselves or anyone else's ability to stay safe.

The helpline is available for young people who are experiencing thoughts of suicide, or for anyone concerned that a young person is thinking about suicide.
