Revision and exams can cause some pupils to feel worried. Perhaps because their usual routine in school is disrupted or because it's all people are talking about. High or low expectations and not fully understanding what is expected can also add to pupil anxiety.
There are lots of things schools can do to support pupils and help them relax including understanding individual pupils learning styles.

Discover 3 simple steps to help pupils with exam stress and anxiety

What is the Missing Monday Panel?
The aim of the panel is to resolve issues for vulnerable children and young people who are not on a school roll (or at risk of losing their school place) and who are 'stuck' in the system.

These pupils may be difficult to place in the school system because:

  • They have complex needs
  • There are safeguarding issues
  • They are children in care, moving around due to placement issues

Who is on the panel?

Babcock Prime:
Worcestershire Children First:
  • Sarah Wilkins
  • Denise Hannibal
  • SEND representative
  • Social care representative
  • A representative from the Health Service

The panel also works with school leaders and community stakeholders to identify and secure children's engagement in learning.

Methods and approaches used:
The panel meets weekly to review children on the list, to identify groups of unseen children and young people, and tackle broader themes e.g. pupils who are out of school due to emotional health and wellbeing issues.

The National Sensory Impairment Partnership (NatSIP) document 'Promoting Resilience and Well-being in Children and Young People with Sensory Impairment' is a useful framework showing factors and barriers known to impact upon the development of resilience and strategies for promoting resilience.

Claire Bradnock, Senior Specialist Teacher for the Vision Impairment Team has further developed the NatSIP resource to present additional strategies which support babies, children and young people with a vision impairment, to improve their personal and social wellbeing.

Despite a room change at very short notice due to flooding and consequently a more 'intimate' conference space, the feedback for the Social Emotional Mental Health Conference has been very positive.

Considering the logistical challenges of the day, delegates rated the conference excellent*.

Due to flooding, a few people missed the end of the day. We are keen to ensure that people still get to experience this valuable, interactive part of the day so we intend to make a video of the final Tapping presentation available to delegates.
